Radio Documentary on WRC recorded on Train

Press Release - 21st January 2005

 

The re-opening of the Western Rail Corridor was the subject of a special radio documentary recorded by Radió na Gaeltachta on the afternoon Claremorris to Ballina rail service on Saturday 22nd January.

The documentary by Máirtín Mac Donnchadha was recorded with the kind permission of Iarnród Éireann. Amongst those participating were Dr. Mícheál MacGréil, patron of the West on Track campaign, Mr. Frank Dawson, Galway Deputy Co. Manager and community leaders from many parts of the West of Ireland.

A group of traditional musicians provided on-board entertainment and refreshments were served in Ballina.
