Galway to Limerick Railway on track for 2007

Galway Independent - Wednesday 4th January 2006

The Limerick to Galway commuter line is on track for commencing operations before 2007

According to Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform Frank Fahy, the recent announcement that Iarnród Éireann is to proceed with the development of the commuter line, is a very welcome initiative.

"The decision taken by Iarnród Éireann to proceed with a Galway commuter rail link, and the news that Galway and Limerick should be connected by a commuter rail link by the end of 2007, are most welcome."

"This new commuter link, together with the introduction of new trains on the existing Galway to Dublin route during 2007 and the planned commencement of hourly departures on this route to the capital, will mean a very comprehensive commuter service for the city, particularly between Athenry, Oranmore and Galway," he said.
