Survey work to go ahead on Athenry to Tuam link

Galway Bay FM Oct 5th 2009

The proposed survey work on the Athenry to Tuam section of the Western Rail Corridor will be carried out on the completion of the Ennis to Athenry section of the rail line.

That's according to C.I.E which confirmed the news to Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív.

Meanwhile, the vice-chairman of the inter-county rail committee Cllr Michael Connolly has got a commitment from Galway's Green party representative Niall O'Brolchain.

Cllr Connolly says that the Western Rail Corridor will be part of the Green party's negotiations for the programme for government, which are currently underway.
